About the

Podcast

This podcast is part of the SINCRONY project, an Horizon Europe initiative that explores how young people experience participation, belonging, and voice in contemporary democratic processes.

Through conversations with project members and young people, the podcast creates a space to reflect on what meaningful participation really looks like when intersectional realities -such as gender, class, and migration- shape how young people engage with society, institutions, politics, and community life.

Across six episodes, the series addresses key themes at the heart of SINCRONY, including intersectionality, political participation, inclusion and exclusion, power and privilege, and the conditions that enable young people to feel heard, valued, and able to act. Rather than offering concrete answers, the podcast invites listening, reflection, and dialogue across different experiences and perspectives.

Episode 1

Identity

Let’s talk about something that has shaped humanity since the beginning of time… the search for identity.

In the first episode of PINGG, we explore concepts such as identity and visibility from the perspective of young people’s experiences through conversations with researchers, project members, and young participants. The episode reflects  on how identity is built through everyday interactions, social visibility, and opportunities to participate.

IDENTITY invites listeners to pause and reflect on their own experiences of being seen or overlooked, and on how these moments influence their willingness to speak up, participate, and take space in the world.

The episode draws mainly on insights from SINCRONY’s Deliverable D3.1 – Assessment of EU-level deliberative and participatory practices, which highlights how young people who are excluded from political and participatory spaces often struggle to defend their interests and to be recognised within society.
